The strength of the spiral welded pipe is higher than straight seam welded pipe. It can produced by larger diameters from narrower billets and the same width billets can produce different diameters spiral welded pipes. Most of the maller diameters welded pipe use straight seam welded pipe and most of the large diameters welded pipes use spiral welded pipe.

Spiral welded steel pipe can be divided into automatic submerged arc welded steel pipe and high frequency welded steel pipe.

a. Spiral seam automatic submerged arc welded steel pipes are divided into A-type pipes and B-type pipes according to the pressure of the conveying medium. Type A pipes are welded with ordinary carbon steel Q235, Q235F and ordinary low-alloy structural steel 16Mn, and Type B pipes are welded with Q235, Q235F, Q195, etc., and are used as low-pressure fluid conveying pipes.

b. Spiral seam high frequency welded steel pipe has no unified producting standard, it is made of ordinary carbon steel Q235, Q235F etc.
